There are no accounts, no cookies, and no analytics or tracking scripts on this site. Your transcript and settings live in your own browser and are never uploaded anywhere — unless you use "Transcribe File," in which case only the audio you choose to upload is sent to the server, transcribed, and immediately deleted.
Your transcripts, saved sessions, bookmarks, and preferences (language, theme, font size, and similar settings) are saved using your browser's local storage, tied to this site's domain. That data:
Live "Start Listening" mode uses your browser's built-in Web Speech API. In Chrome and Edge, this means your live microphone audio is streamed to that browser vendor's own speech-recognition servers (for example, Google's, when using Chrome) to generate text, under that vendor's own privacy policy — see policies.google.com/privacy as one example. This Service itself never receives or stores that raw audio; it only receives the text your browser hands back.
"Transcribe File" mode uploads the audio file you choose over HTTPS to this Service's own server, where it's transcribed and the temporary file is deleted automatically as soon as transcription finishes or fails. No copy of the audio is kept afterward — only the resulting text is returned to your browser.
"Save Recording" saves a WAV file built entirely in your browser and downloaded straight to your device. It's never uploaded anywhere.
Like essentially any web server, the infrastructure this Service runs on (Caddy, and the hosting provider) may keep short-lived technical logs of requests — things like IP address, timestamp, and user agent — for security and operational purposes (for example, detecting abuse). These logs aren't used to build advertising profiles or sold to anyone, and are kept only as long as needed for that operational purpose.
This Service isn't directed at children, and the operator doesn't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Because almost everything lives in your own browser, you're already in control: use the in-app "Clear" or "Clear All" buttons, or clear this site's data from your browser settings, to remove everything at any time.
This Service is operated from South Africa. By using it, you understand your data may be processed there and, for live recording, by third-party speech-recognition providers that may be located in other countries.
